Blue Ridge
We spent the weekend in Blue Ridge, Georgia and I fell in love.
It is such a cute town in a beautiful setting.
The kids did a fantastic job hiking, sometimes on trails that were pretty difficult. We did two miles on the Appalachian Trail, getting to see the Southern Terminus at the top of Springer Mountain. It was pretty steep and rocky and they were troopers! Both took a tumble, but we made it without any major injuries.
The roads leading to some of our hikes were narrow and dirt and on the side of a mountain and a bit stressful/terrifying. But the good-ole minivan didn't let us down, even though we looked like unprepared suburbanites heading out into the wilderness.
Some easier hikes led to a waterfall and a swinging bridge over a river, my happy place.
This, right here. A river through the mountains. Oh, my heart. This place, in rockier mountains, is what I picture when I think of childhood vacations. It is what I envision as my ultimate relaxation. It brings a peace to my soul and rejuvenates my mind. Give me a few minutes by a river in the mountains and I am energized to keep going. I can smell the crisp air just writing about it. Such peace.
On this trip, we also hit the jackpot with our cabin. It. was. legit. Absolutely the perfect place for us to get away for a few days, complete with a sunroom overlooking the woods and old-school video games that the kids couldn't get enough of.
We also made a stop at Stone Mountain with a trip on a gondola to the top. And, of course, sparklers for the 4th.

I am so grateful for this time as a family before Caleb deploys soon. It was much needed and much enjoyed.
