Local Explorations

This weekend, we went to the Riverside Arts Market and Sweet Pete's.
Riverside Arts Market is a farmers and artisans market under a bridge right by the river in downtown Jacksonville. It has everything from food to paintings to jewelry to bands.
Sweet Pete's is a candy factory/store/restaurant. It's basically a dream come true. Willy Wonka but not creepy.
Tow local establishments that make our hearts happy and our bellies full...and maybe our wallets empty. But it's worth it.

Aren't local places sometimes just the best?

We love to travel. We like big vacations and little vacations and exploring new areas. We have a pages-long list of places we want to go and things we want to see.

But we are also lucky to be able to take advantage of this crazy Navy life and our frequent moves. We love to explore where we live and find the local places, the oddities, the establishments. Especially the restaurants.

Don't we live in an exciting, wonderful world? Even in the midst of the most boring places there is something local, something special, something secret. Sometimes we just need to explore to find it.

Go explore your place. Find your spot.
And if you ever visit Jacksonville, swing by Sweet Pete's.
You get a personalized chocolate bar at the end of the tour. You know you want to.
